Gadgets & Tech Recommendations

Here you’ll find my personal recommendations for gadgets and technology.

I use all of the products that you see in this section and believe that they can help you achieve your goals.

I use the Polar Vantage V sports watch every single day. Even when I’m not running.

I love it for a number of reasons

  • It’s incredibly long battery life means I’ve never been caught out of battery yet. Even on 100 mile races

  • Has a wrist-based heart-rate monitor - Means I can track the effort I’m doing in any session, really easily

  • Training Load Pro - A really simple way to know when I’m over-trained, under trained or just at the right level

The Plantronics Backbeat Fit Bluetooth headphones are perfect if you don't want the hassle and annoyance of wires.

They're a great fit and stay in place even when working out at higher intensities. You won’t even notice you’re wearing them.

Plus, they are really great value.

The Plantronics Backbeat Fit Bluetooth headphones are by far the best pair of headphones that I’ve ever had.

The Petzl Nao+ headtorch is worth every penny, because it has a very strong beam of light, fits well and has a long battery.

It’s also really reliable.

All of these are really important if you’re taking part in a race that goes overnight.

When I first started racing, I bought the cheapest possible head torch. And that was definitely a mistake!

But the Petzl Nao+ headtorch is a fantastic piece of must-have kit for serious ultra-racers!
